Nourished has launched!

I am so happy to share that my podcast, Nourished with Dr. Anikó, launched this month! In some ways, it’s hard to even believe it’s all happening. Starting a podcast was suggested to me over a decade ago — even before I knew what a podcast even was, really. And it’s almost surreal that an idea that percolated in me and in the ether for so long is finally here in the world.

I think it can be that way when we arrive at a place we’ve been imagining for a while. It doesn’t necessarily always feel like an achievement, but it can feel a little surreal when we stop and experience the place we envisioned time and time again as finally here. I think about when I graduated medical school, finished residency, completed my fellowship, got married, had kids, moved to a new country— they are all milestones that we can easily see when we look back on our lives. It’s one of the reasons ceremonies can be so important. It doesn’t even have to be the “official” ceremony, per se — it can be your own, personal one. But it is important to mark this change — as the beginning of a new kind of path. The place in your life when you finished one chapter and entered another.

And there are so many milestones in life — some uplifting, some heartbreaking, but all of it marking the many ways we have grown and changed and shifted in our lives.

I like taking a moment and thinking — or even better, feeling — “My podcast exists now!” For so long, it was just an idea, but now, it is out in the world. It feels so human to create and then share what we create with others. And it feels very special to share more of myself in this podcast than I ever would in a medical setting. I didn’t really think about it before I started recording, but it’s so lovely and feels so much more full to bring more of my personal self and story to my professional life. While it can be an odd — and sometimes quite vulnerable — feeling to share of yourself and just send it out into the airwaves, it also feels special and oddly intimate to know that this is allowing me to connect with others, even if they are so far away that we’d likely never meet in person. It feels like we shrank the distance between us and are now in the same space together. And, in a way, we are. I mean it when I say your presence is truly felt and deeply appreciated. I hope Nourished is as nourishing for you to listen to as it is for me to create it.

I’m so happy you are here.
